Xmas 2008:
The count down is on
Predicted date for the move to our new studio downstairs is … 15th December!!
Scarier than weight gain over Christmas is the endless round of dieting that seems to begin in January...
Don’t do it to yourself!! Diets are generally based on calorie restriction which promotes the loss of muscle tissue. A loss of muscle means a slower metabolic rate which causes extra fat gain in the long term. Then comes the second whammy. The enzymes responsible for lipogenesis-the storing of fat in the fat cell, will increase in concentration during a diet, especially in women. These changes are a protective response for the preservation of life. Simply speaking, if you feed your body less, it sets itself up to need less. No diet lasts forever so when you inevitably go back to “normal” eating, your body now needs less food for the same energy expenditure and you end up fatter than before the diet!! Sound familiar?
Don’t think short term weight loss-a diet, which will definitely mean quick weight regain. Think long term results by eating a stack of healthy, high fibre, low fat, non-processed natural foods and maintain your regular “Huffy Puffy” and strength training exercise sessions, especially during the end of the year “Silly season”.
Stay smart, fit and healthy, make time to exercise and choose healthy food, especially over Christmas!!
Dieting Will End Up Making You Fatter!! Do you know…
- The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism
- If you eat more than the energy you expend you will gain weight
- Consistent exercise and healthy eating is the key to feeling fit & fabulous
- Women are unlikely to get big & bulky lifting heavy weights
- Men usually gain muscle mass easily because of their level of testosterone
- Where you carry excess weight is usually the last place you will lose it
- The fitter you are the more efficiently you will burn fat
- To burn fat faster, interval train – train at a high intensity with breaks to recover
- You can’t spot reduce body fat. Concentrate on a clean diet & consistent exercise
- The number one excuse not to exercise is … no time, too busy!
- If you think you’re fat and unfit… you probably are
- If you think you’re fit and fabulous…you probably are
- Only you can choose to change
YTPT NEWS
As you all have experienced, we are in the middle of a huge renovation at Highpoint Plaza. The drilling, car park hassles, the broken down lift, the dust, the scaffolding, the noise, the noise and oh the noise!
Thank you for being patient! The best news is that we get a brand new studio located on the ground level. Our predicted date to christen the new area is Monday 15th December. (that’s if all goes to plan!) The downstairs bathroom renovation should be finished when we move. The car park has an attendant to help you with those peak times 8.30 – 10am, please tell him you are visiting us and he will look after you. The area around the coffee shop will be landscaped and looking fabulous in no time. We can’t wait to share our new space with you!!
It’s that time again when the weekends fill up with Christmas outings. If you are free on Sunday 14th December we would love you and your family to join us for an early breakfast in the lovely bush surrounds of Bellbird Grove to say thank you for your wonderful training efforts during 2008. We will be kicking off at 8am, all you have to bring is a chair, comfy clothes (we may be doing some moving), and your Christmas spirit. It’s a great chance for your family to meet your trainer if they haven’t already and to chat without lifting weights or getting really puffed! We hope you can join us!
Congratulations to Ashley Christmas - she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl “Stephanie” in September. Congratulations also to Julie Jones – another new Mum to “Eve” born just this month. And we can’t forget first time grandmother Margot Love who now has a gorgeous new grandson “Archie”.
A fabulous effort to our legend of the month Corina Braddley who brought home 2 gold medals in the Pan Pacific “Total Breast Cancer Survivors” race for dragon boat racing – we think you are wonderful!
A number of our Tuesday ladies with Alicia, Crystal and myself attended a “Chicks in Pink” charity morning tea. We had a fun morning with a great road trip there & back thanks to Lynley!
Thank you to Michelle Towler who organised an invigorating early morning bush walk a couple of weeks ago. What an amazing landscape we have in our own back yard. The walk (even though puffy at times!), the catch up chats, and the cuppa at the end made for a great start for the day.
From all of us at Your Time we wish you a wonderful experience for the festive break! Stay safe, relax and enjoy the time spent with the ones you love. We hope to find you recharged and raring to live each day in the healthiest, fittest, strongest body you could wish for in 2009!!
Christmas cheer from, Sue, Alicia, Ali, Joe, Crystal, Gill and Aaron
